Holiday Shoppers Provide Cover

The timing of this crackdown was inspired by the onset of the holidays. Hoards of shoppers actually provide cover for drug dealers and gang members that are dealing crack, heroin and marijuana. The open air atmosphere combined with lots of people and cars provide plenty of opportunity for drug deals to go unnoticed.

On November 22, narcotics were purchased from 27 individuals. 14 are now in custody and 13 are still at large.

The Seattle Police Department seized a total of 12 ounces of heroin and a gun during theses arrests. The remaining suspects are still at large and will have felony warrants issued for their arrest.

Prosecutor’s Agree to Prosecutor Marijuana Dealers

Prior to the operation, prosecutors worked with police and agreed to prosecute marijuana dealers. One suspect arrested for the sale of marijuana had a bail set at $25,000, which is thought to be quite high under the circumstances.
